THE CONTRIBUTORS Nathaniel lewis teaches English and American Studies at St. Michael 's College in Vermont. A past member of the Western Literature Association's Executive Council, he is currently finishing a book on "authenticity and western American literature." Nicholas LOLORDO is a doctoral candidate at Harvard University. He is completing a dissertation on modern American poetry and the problem of "difficulty." An article on John Ashbery and literary history is forthcoming in Contemporary Literature. juniper Ellis is Assistant Professor at Loyola College, where she teaches Maori, Pacific Islands, and U.S. literature. She has published related articles and interviews in journals including Massachusetts Review, Ariel, and Journal of Commonwealth Literature. She is currently a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Germany. Laurie MacDiarmid is assistant professor and Writer in Residence at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. Her poetry has been published in such journals as Antioch, Pennsylvania Quarterly, Cottonwood , Carolina Quarterly, Louisiana Literature, and Iowa Woman. She has finished a collection of poetry, in the Moon Palace with Daddy Roy, and is at work on a fictional memoir ofher father.
