The editors of Victorian Poetry note with sadness the death of Cecil Y. Lang, distinguished teacher and editor, on February 15, 2003. Professor Lang's magisterial editions of the letters of Swinburne, Tennyson, and Arnold embody the highest standards of the textual critic and annotator's art, and will serve as enduringly valuable tools for generations of future Victorianists. A member of the editorial board of Victorian Poetry from its beginning in 1963 to his own retirement in 1991, Professor Lang was an ever-willing and astute adviser and friend to the editors, past and present. We shall miss him.
