IN MEMORY OF LOUANNA STEWART AMBURGEY Mrs. Louanna Amburgey of Clearfield, Ky., the widow of Elijah Amburgey, was born in Letcher County, Ky. She was married to Elijah Amburgey and this union was blessed with twelve children, eight boys and fourgirls. Four children, three boys, Alex, William, and Rochambeau and one girl Elizabeth and also her husband, Elijah Amburgey, preceded her in death, leaving five boys, John, Thomas, Jasper, Elijah and Robert Amburgey and three girls, Mrs. Mary Messer, Mrs. Annie Scott and Miss Tishie Amburgey to mourn her death. Mrs. Louanna Stewart Amburgey, well known as Aunt Lou Anne departed this life Feb. 8th, 1921. She was of a noted family and the last one living of ten brothers and sisters. Her grandfather, Alexander Stewart came from Scotland. She was a lineal descendant of the Royal family. Alexander Stewart was a son of William Stewart, whose father was King James, the second of England. This kindly Christian woman was loved and respected by all who knew her. To know her was to love her. She would ride many miles to lend a helping hand to the sick and afflicted or to speak words of comfort to some one in distress. Aunt Lou Ann is sadly missed by her relatives and many friends, yet we know our loss is her great gain. All that knew her appreciated her noble, pure, Christian life. She had been a consistent member of the Regular Baptist Church for the past fifty-two years and no member was more devoted to its teachings. She was baptized into the fellowship of the Dry Fork Church of Christy Creek, May the fourth, 1869 by Elder James Stewart, her brother, where she lived a faithful member until her death. She was a constitutional member of the Dry Fork Church and the last one of the constitutional members living. She died in the same faith at the age of seventy-eight years. While her body lies silent in the tomb, her spirit has ascended home with the Redeemed of the Lord. The Heavenly Master gave her that assurance that our bereavement is her Eternal Gain. Our dear mother from us has gone, Her living voice is stilled. In our home is a vacant place, That never can be filled. No more on earth will we see her, She has gone to the One from whom she was given: But God gave her more than we And called her home to Heaven.
