In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

Books for Review [the minnesota review welcomes proposals for reviews of the following, as well as other more recent titles, particularly that pertain to upcoming issues. I would like to encourage reviews that are short on summary and blurb-like praise, and long on analysis and reading the texts in question as symptoms of the present socio-institutional scene. For instance, rather than a review of one book of "autobiographical criticism," one might consider the trend toward personal writing in terms of the descent of theory, in terms of the current construction of academic celebrity, or in terms of individualism and contemporary ideology. I would especially like to solicit reviews that consider alternative topics —such as special issues of or significant changes in journals, notable conferences , films and video, even fashion, as well as commercial publishing trends—that sometimes expose whafs going on more saliently than notices of one specific critical book. If you are interested in proposing a review, you should look over the reviews in this and recent issues for format and focus.— JW, Editor] Balsamo, Anne.
