Idle Chatter

The author addresses the manifestations in Latin American studies of problems that concern the study of the Humanites in the 21st century. She argues that, on account of its ambiguities and deconstruction, knowledge itself is being questioned. She aims to illustrate the relevance of critical and cultural theory in such unexpected realms as the military. She then posits cultural practices such as cinema as devices that make social conflicts intelligible to all divergent viewing parties. Culture and aesthetics are then conceived as catalysts for experiences of confrontation and political alienation among multitudes.
