REVIEW OF THE 30th ANNUAL MEETING OF THE DIVISION The Thirtieth Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Division of the Association of American Geographers was held November 23-25 at the Holiday Inn of Callaway Gardens near Pine Mountain, Georgia. The host institution was West Georgia College. John C. Upchurch chaired the Local Arrangements Committee and Sanford H. Bederman chaired the Program Committee. Approximately 400 persons were registered for the meetings and 65 papers were presented. Highlights of the meeting included a welcoming address by Dr. Maurice Townsend, President of West Georgia College, two special workshops, two panel sessions, a field trip, a Caucus of Marine Geographers , and a Cartography Roundtable. During the Business Meeting a new set of bylaws was adopted, James O. Wheeler was elected President of the Division, Burke E. Vanderhill was reelected Treasurer, and Sidney R. Jumper was elected Editor. In accordance with the newly adopted bylaws, Donald S. Patton, James S. Fisher, and Malcolm A. Murray were elected to membership on the Honors Committee, with Patton as chairman, and Lisle S. Mitchell, Charles F. Kovacik, and Jesse O. McKee were elected to membership on the Nominating Committee , with Mitchell as Chairman. Thomas P. Field of the University of Kentucky was elected to Honorary Life Membership. The membership also voted to accept an invitation from the University of Georgia to hold the 1978 meeting in Athens. Additional highlights of the meeting included an Honors Luncheon addressed by Marvin W. Mikesell, President of the Association of American Geographers, and the presentation of awards to David Clawson, the University of Florida, and Linda Pett, the University of South Carolina, for presenting the winning papers in the student honors competition.
