CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE Gary W. Gallagher is John L. Nau HI Professor of the History of the American Civil War at the University of Virginia. His recent publications include Lee and His Generals in War and Memory (1998), 77it* Antietam Campaign (1999), and Three Days at Gettysburg: Essays on Confederate and Union Leadership (1999). Michael P. Gray currenty teaches writing and American history at New Egypt High School in New Jersey. His first book, on Elmira Prison, is in press.
