Introducing the LDR Panelists

Curtis Karnow is a partner in the E-Business Group of the nationwide law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal and specializes in intellectual property litigation and technology law, including Internet issues, software development and licensing disputes, and in complex commercial and class-action litigation in state and federal courts. A graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review and instructor in American Constitutional History, Karnow is the author of a volume of essays, Future Codes: Essays in Advanced Computer Technology and the Law (Artech House, 1997) and has served as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He advises on intellectual property matters and handles Internet-related agreements addressing business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions, privacy, security, encryption, licensing and related matters. Amy Ione, best known as an international lecturer, painter and writer, has been exploring discovery, creativity, innovation, invention and historical challenges in art and science for over 25 years. She is presently Director of the Diatrope Institute, based in Berkeley, California. The Diatrope Institute disseminates information and engages in research related to art, science and visual studies. Ione lectures throughout the world on these topics, and her academic studies in these areas have been widely published in the books and journals of several disciplines, including Trends in Cognitive Science, The Encyclopedia of Creativity and the Journal of Consciousness Studies. She is a contributing editor to an art column in the Journal of the History of Neuroscience. She has taught the history of science at the university level and served on the board of directors of the Northern California chapter of Artists Equity Association. Chris Cobb is an artist and a San Francisco correspondent for Flash Art International. He has worked as a drawing installer for Sol LeWitt at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, contributing to over 25 wall drawings for LeWitt’s retrospective. His photography and sculpture have been shown at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, Connecticut; the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore, Maryland; the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento, California; the San Francisco Art Commission Gallery; and PLUS Art, Düsseldorf, Germany. He has written a catalog essay for PS1’s Greater New York. Cobb currently works for the oldest library in the western United States—the Mechanics’ Institute Library in San Francisco.
