Dear Readers:

With this issue, we end our unexpected one-year publishing hiatus. I know many of you have been concerned about the fate of the journal, so I would like to assure you all that Conservative Judaism is alive and well, and that we have many superb essays slated for future issues.

The journal's hiatus, though unplanned, was due to the extraordinary effort on the part of Rabbinical Assembly to publish Maḥzor Lev Shalem, which extraordinary liturgical work represents a truly transformative moment for the Conservative movement as a whole. While I regret not having been able to announce the lapse in publication to our readers in advance, I also believe that the decision to focus the RA's publication resources solely on the effort to bring out Maḥzor Lev Shalem was the right decision. Indeed, if I am right to expect the Maḥzor to enhance the vitality of the movement as a whole, then that will only serve also to enhance the scholarly and spiritual discourse that you've come to expect to find in the pages of this journal. In an unplanned sort of way, I believe that we have ended up with a win-win situation in that the Maḥzor is out and the journal is back with several special and general issues already slated to come out and others still in the planning stages.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion the interruption of service may have caused and I am pleased to offer all our readers and subscribers a complimentary year of the journal as a way of compensating you all for your indulgence and your patience. If you are a regular subscriber, your subscription will be automatically extended for one year.

As always, we are grateful for your readership, your comments, and your contributions to the pages of Conservative Judaism. I look forward to exploring new ways of conversing with you, both online and in print. Speaking from the heart and on behalf of the entire editorial board, I thank you for your support. [End Page 3]
