95 C o n t r i b u t o r s Alastair V. Campbell is Chen Su Lan Centennial Professor of Medical Ethics and Director of Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE) in Singapore. A prolific writer and internationally recognised expert in the field, his recent books include Medical Ethics, 4th Edition, co-authored with Grant Gillett and Gareth Jones (Oxford University Press, 2005) and The Body in Bioethics (Routledge Cavendish, 2009). Prof Campbell is a member of the Bioethics Advisory Committee to the Singapore Government, of the National Medical Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Health and he is a Board Member of the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore. Jacqueline Chin, a senior Research Fellow at CBmE, is involved in the development and enhancement of the medical ethics programme within the curriculum of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Dr Chin is also an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Philosophy in the National University of Singapore (NUS), teaching Women in Philosophy. Leonardo D. de Castro heads CBmE’s programme for Capacity Development in Biomedical Ethics. Prof de Castro has more than three decades of experience in teaching philosophy and a decade as consultant for international agencies. At the University of the Philippines, he set up a regional Research Ethics Training Programme with support from US-NIH. As consultant to the European Commission, he helped establish and train the National Ethics Committees for Health Research of Cambodia and Lao PDR. As consultant to WHO, Prof de Castro participated in drafting the 2008 WHO Guiding Principles on Human Cell, Tissue and Organ Transplantation. He has been a member of the Steering Committee for the International Summit on Organ Trafficking and the Asian Working Group against Organ Trafficking. Anoja Fernando is Senior Professor of Pharmacology as well as head of the department at University of Ruhuna, Karapitiya Galle, Sri Lanka. She served on the National Bioethics Committee and is a member of the Ethics Review Committee of the Sri Lanka Medical Association. Dr Fernando has written widely in the field including research ethics. Her special interests are in neuropsychopharmacology, medical ethics, medical humanities, and medical education. Soraj Hongladarom is Director of the Centre for Ethics of Science and Technology and associate professor of philosophy at Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Aamir Jafarey is Associate Professor at the Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture, Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation in Karachi, Pakistan. Dr Jafarey joined CBEC in October 2004 after training in bioethics as a Fogarty Fellow in the Department of Population and International Health, Harvard School of Public Health. He is also Lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon at Aga Khan University, Karachi. Jaime C. Montoya is Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development, which is the lead coordinating agency of the Philippine National Health Research System.
