In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editors’ Foreword

We open this issue with commemorations of two notable Chaucerians, Derek Brewer and Charles Muscatine, both of whom were members of The Chaucer Review’s editorial board when the journal was founded in 1966. They continued to serve on the board until their deaths.

John Burrow is also a founding member of the editorial board, on which he continues to serve. We are honored to print in this issue his newest essay on Chaucer as petitioner in his short lyrics.

At the same time, we are pleased to welcome four new editorial board members, who joined our ranks with the first issue of Volume 45. They are Ardis Butterfield, Christopher Cannon, Frank Grady, and Robert J. Meyer-Lee.

Sessions in memory of Derek Brewer were sponsored by Boydell and Brewer Press at the 2010 International Congress on Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo. The Chaucer Review will sponsor sessions in memory of Charles Muscatine at the 2011 Congress. [End Page iii]
