La nueva canción latinoamericana: A 21st-Century View
A Conference Hosted by the University of East Anglia 11th–12th September 2009
Mi pueblo me hace cantar is a two-day multidisciplinary conference that brings together leading researchers in the field of Latin American music and politics to examine the impact and legacy of the new song movement, throughout Latin America, from a 21st-century perspective.
The conference organizers invite submissions for papers from scholars in any discipline (in English or Spanish) on the following themes and any other related topics:
• The impact of Chilean new song on musicians in other Latin American/Caribbean nations.
• The new song practitioner as politician/symbol/repository of cultural meaning.
• The re-interpretation and re-signification of new song in the 21st century/links with contemporary social movements/new song and activism.
• New song and memory.
• New song and identity.
• New song and audiences; voice of the common people or that of a select minority of leftist intellectuals?
• New song and the state.
• New song in exile.

Rama Latinoamericana de la Asociación Internacional para el Estudio de la Música Popular, IASPM-AL
¿Popular, pop, populachera? El dilema de las músicas populares en América Latina
Con el objetivo de propiciar el encuentro entre los investigadores que, desde distintas perspectivas disciplinarias y teóricas, abordan el estudio de las músicas populares de América Latina y el Caribe, se convoca al IX Congreso IASPM-AL, mismo que se realizará en la ciudad de Caracas, Venezuela, del 1 al 4 de junio de 2010, en co-organización con la IASPM-AL, el Capítulo Venezolano IASPM-AL/VE y la Universidad Central de Venezuela.
Estos congresos son bilingües: español/portugués.
El IX Congreso IASPM-AL propone cuatro áreas temáticas para la presentación de ponencias:
I. Estudios de música popular en América Latina;
II. Música popular, esté-tica y posmodernidad en América Latina;
III. Cover y versión;
IV. Formación del músico popular.

A pesquisa em música no século 21: trajetórias e perspectivas.
Florianópolis (de 23 a 27 de agosto)
O XX Congresso da ANPPOM propõe a discussão da pesquisa em música no século 21 em todas as sub-áreas da música, e aceitará também propostas sobre temas fronteiriços, desde que o enfoque principal seja a música. Serão bem vindos tanto trabalhos que versem sobre aspectos da construção do atual momento em pesquisa (trajetórias relevantes para o que se faz hoje) como trabalhos que abordem reflexões conceituais ou aplicadas sobre a música estudada ou realizada na atualidade.
O Congresso da ANPPOM de 2010 será sediado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Música da UDESC.
