  • Conference Arts Director's Statement
  • Matthew Hollern

Since its inception, the SIGGRAPH conference has been committed to leading-edge theory and practice in computer graphics and interactive techniques. Each year affords new opportunities to seek out and explore new frontiers, to engage a diverse community of researchers, developers, creators, educators, and practitioners, to contribute to the development of knowledge, and to advance education.

Since its inception, Leonardo has sustained a commitment to advancement and communication at the confluence of art, science, and developing technologies. We would like to express our appreciation for the renewed collaboration between ACM SIGGRAPH and MIT Press/Leonardo. The collaboration has greatly enhanced the opportunity to attract, review, exhibit, and publish select art and art papers.

This year we have reflected on the themes of "Wonder" and "The people behind the pixels" to guide Conference Arts, allowing the Art Gallery and the Art Papers to look at current research, select new work that presents insights into the humanity of technology, and explore the importance of human interaction and response in physical and emotional forms.
