In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

Schools and Programs in Canada INTRODUCTION Information on schools, local programs, and other facilities for deaf children and youth in Canada is provided in two sections: (1) a directory of the names, addresses, and telephone numbers and (2) a table summarizing the programs and services offered. The schools and programs supplied the information to the Annals Reference Issue through a survey for the 1991-92 school year. The directory and the table are listed by province, and for each province the entries are listed under one of three categories: schools, local programs, and other facilities. [Note: Previous Reference Issues have listed schools, classes, and other facilities. The "local programs" category replaces the "classes" category, in order to reflect more accurately the current status of these programs.] The following categories, definitions, and abbreviations apply to the table. (Blank cells indicate that the school or program did not report the information.) 1. 3. 4. Residential: Day: No tuition: Tuition: boarding facilities offered; program may also serve day students day facilities only public and/or private support; parents do not pay tuition private support; parents pay tuition (scholarships or tuition assistance may be available) [Note: Previous Reference Issues have designated schools and classes as "public" or "private." These categories have been replaced by the terms "no tuition" and "tuition." In most cases, nontuition programs have public (state or federal) support; in many cases they may also have private support; in some cases they have only private support.] Enrollment: Grade Range: I: T: K: 1-12: PHS Age Range • Birth - 21 Services: number of students reported by school as of January 31,1992 birth through age 2 (Infant) 3 - 4 years old (Toddler) kindergarten grade levels post-high school transitional program minimum age of enrollment; maximum age of attendance •Parent-Infant: •Multi HC Program: •Mainstreaming: •Interpreter: •Guidance Counseling: •Voc Eval & Trng: •Continuing Ed: •Other: program available for deaf infants and their parents program for multihandicapped deaf students program available for educating deaf students with normally hearing students an interpreter (oral or sign) is available for classroom instruction counseling available as part of school program vocational evaluation and training educational services/classes available for deaf adults services not listed that are available (i.e., notetakers, parent education programs, parent support groups, etc.) Communication: •Auditory/Oral: •Cued Speech: •ASL: •Sign with Speech: encourages use of speech and residual hearing provides training in use of Cued Speech American Sign Language includes various sign plus speech methods (e.g., Signed English, SEE I or II) Vol. 137, No. 2 AAD/REFERENCE 1992 177 Schools and Programs in Canada DmECTORY LISTING • ••ALBERTA··· Schools: Alberta School for the Deaf 6240-113 Street Edmonton AB T6H 3L2 Voice Phone: 403 422-0244 TDD Phone: Same Principal: Joseph McLaughlin Assoc fit Hearing Handicapped St Andrew School 11342 127th Street, West Entrance Edmonton AB T5M 0T8 Voice Phone: 403 454-9581 TDD Phone: Same Coord Family & Children Svcs: Anthea Lee Local Programs: Calgary Board of Education 515 McLeod Trail, SE Calgary AB T2G2L9 Voice Phone: 403 294-8417 Supv-Spec Ed Progs: Olwen Thomas Crystal Park School 9351116th Avenue Grande Prairie AB T8V 6L5 Voice Phone: 403 539-0333 Educational Consultant f/t HI: Paul DesBarres Other: Language and Speech Svc fit HI 10230 111th Avenue Edmonton AB T5G 0B7 Voice Phone: 403 471-2262 Dir: Elaine Heaton • · »BRITISH COLUMBIA· · · Schools: Deaf Children's Society of BC 3644 Slocan Street Vancouver BC V5M 3E8 Voice Phone: 604 435-9447 TDD Phone: 604 435-9433 Acting Exec Dir: Roger Carver Jericho Hill School fit Deaf 4125 W 8th Avenue Vancouver BC V6R 1Z7 Voice Phone: 604 224-1331 TDD Phone: 604 299-0192 Principal: John Anderson Vancouver Oral Center for Deaf Children 4824 Commercial Street Vancouver BC V5N 4Hl Voice Phone: 604 874-0255 Dir: Hilda Gregory Local Programs: Burnaby School District #41 5325 Kincaid Street Burnaby BC V5G 1W2 Voice Phone: 604 299-0611 Dist Principal: Helen Vanee Burnaby South Sec 6626 Kingsway Burnaby BC V5E IHl Voice Phone: 604 438-3351 Principal: Sharon CutclifF Delta School District #37 4900 96th Street Delta BC V4K3N3 Voice Phone: 604 596-7101 Dir: Stan Auerbach Kamloops School District #24 Hearing Impaired Programs 1280 9th Avenue Kamloops...
