Media professionals, teachers, and resource personnel working with the hearing impaired were surveyed to determine if a need existed for establishing a new organization or subgroup within an existing organization to address professional development needs. Approximately 100 respondents out of 230 who returned a short questionnaire voiced an interest in supporting such an organization or subgroup. Thrity-three major issues perceived by respondents as requiring immediate attention were identified. Recommendations for implementing the results of the study are discussed.
