Book Copyright 1977, Paperback Subject: Reading Age range of students who used the materials: 12-15 Educational achievement range of students who used the materials: Grades 2-5. Short selections on science and social studies topics followed by comprehension questions including factual recall, vocabulary, inference, main idea, cause/effect, and concept recognition. Emphasis is on teaching sophisticated concepts at low-readability levels. I have used these for tutoring situations, small group instruction, and independent assignments . The selections are interesting and informative . For tutoring and small group instruction I've used the levels corresponding to the students' actual reading level (instructional). For independent assignments I've usually had to use one level below the students' instructional level.
