Editor's Fence Subscription Rates: The last time ELT had to increase domestic or foreign rates was 1988. In the best of all possible publishing worlds rates never change, or at least not for five years. If we could invite some magical spirits from the fairy-tale world of Wilde or Milne to conjure lower postal and printing costs, we'd have them in to spare us even a modest increase in subscription prices. But then even without the help of those elusive good spirits the rates remain reasonable. In 1992 individuals in the U.S. may subscribe for $14.00 (1 year) or $25.00 (2 years), individuals elsewhere for $16.00 or $29.00. Institutional rates have also changed (U.S. $16.00/ $29.00 Elsewhere $20.00/ $37.00). Those of you familiar with ELT know we publish a substantial volume of articles and reviews each year. We will continue to do so, and I assure you we'll do our best to keep the new rates level for as long as possible. Dare I say five years? ELT Special Series Number 5: The Critical Reception of H. Rider Haggard: An Annotated Bibliography 1882-1991, by Lloyd Siemens (University of Winnipeg), is now available (ad on p. 383). Pater in the 1990s, edited by Laurel Brake & Ian Small, is the most recent book in ELT Press's 1880-1920 British Authors Series (ad on p. 384). We hope you will continue to encourage your university librarian to order all the titles in the series. To show our appreciation, we now offer a 10% discount on ELT Press books to individuals who subscriber to ELT. **· Announcements **■New Editorship: Victorian Poetry, edited by Hayden Ward, welcomes articles that employ the full range of contemporary critical theory, as well as essays using traditional scholarly methods.
