IH 3. We appreciate: The large number of subscribers who have renewed subscriptions In advance and for two- or three-year periods are helping us to hold the line on subscription rates despite rises In postal rates and printing costs. So that we can further reduce the expense of separate billing and mailing lapse notices, we shall appreciate having renewals for Volume 15 (1972) before the end of 1971. Again, early renewal and advance subscriptions through 1973 will do much to help us maintain our present rates. k. We call attention: The Inside back cover carries a notice of the ELT Seminar on Thomas Hardy to be held at the MLA meetings In Chicago this December. Robert Schwelk, who will be Discussion Leader, has organized a fine program. We are delighted to hear that some Hardy scholars from England and the Continent plan to attend. Anyone wishing to attend should apply for admission to Professor Schwelk, Department of English, State University College, Fredonla, N. Y. (14063). MLA rules limit the size of these Seminars ANNOUNCEMENTS 1. People on the move: In making our move to Arizona State University , we have become particularly conscious of others' peregrinations. We can record the wanderings of only a few of our subscribers, contributors , and friends: John A. Lester, Jr. (Haverford College) will spend next academic year In England; Kenneth B. Newell, recently of UCLA, Is moving to the Academic Center of the Virginia Commonwealth University, Hlchmond; James J. Hill, recently of The State University College at Potsdam, N. We have erred: Norman Jeffares, the editor of Ariel: A Review of International English Literature chides us for some errors In Volume 13: 3 (1970), p. 201. The new treasurer of IASAIL Is Professor Alan Warner, New University of Ulster, Coloralne, N. Ireland; Professor Roger McHugh (not McHush, as we Interestingly managed to name him) Is the new chairman; and the new secretary Is Andrew Carpenter , English Department, University College, Dublin. We can only plead that we have not been receiving Ariel or Irish University Review and the IASAIL bulletins only Irregularly, often late, and generally badly mangled In transit. We are often not only misinformed but unlmformed. Iv 3. Anglo-Irish Studies at Leeds: An M. A. In Anglo-Irish Studies flourishes at the University of Leeds and candidates for the M. Phil. and Ph. D. degrees In this area of study are also accepted. 4. CoustIllas reports on Glsslng: M.
