Gordan died on March 10, I968, of a heart attack. His last contribution to the world of scholarship was the catalogue for an outstanding exhibition, "Arnold Bennett: the Centenary of his Birth." Perhaps his greatest contributions were the unsigned ones, those he made as silent partner in nearly every book, edited or written by others, that made use of Berg materials.
