ANNOUNCEMENTS Rosalie Hewitt, current President of the James Society, sends news that our long wait is over: the MLA has granted Allied Organization status to the Society. Hereafter two sessions of the annual MLA Convention will be set aside for us each year. We look forward to coming out of hiding (in the "special sessions" of the Convention) and presenting many more of the lively, starstudded , provocative meetings we have held in the past. Our first issue of Volume IV is a partial continuation of Volume III, leading off with the final promised component of our special Leon Edel number, an assessment of Edel's contribution to James studies by Dan Fogel, HJR editorin -chief currently on leave. Dan will return to the front desk beginning with the next issue. The rest of Volume IV will be especially notable for two large items: a major Centennial Essay on James's Hawthorne by John Carlos Rowe, and the never-before-published Library of Henry James, an annotated list providing invaluable information for all students of James. Also, as the number of important new books featuring James continues to swell (Torgovnick's Closure in the Novel, Brooke-Rose's A Rhetoric of the Unreal, Delbanco's Group Portrait, Edel's Stuff of Sleep and Dreams, among others), so will the number of authoritative reviews in the next issues, which will also be bringing that veritable center of information and evaluation, the Annual Review of James Studies. ERRATA We regret four errors or omissions in our printing of the Cadbury/ Laskowski/Tintner "Bibliography of the Writings on Henry James by Leon Edel," HJR 3, pp. 176-99: —p. 184, item 79: lines 2ff. should read "... pp. 75-103.
