Abstract

This essay presents a reading of Chapter 4 of Vayikra Rabbah as viewed from the perspective of my career as a student of midrash. Essentially a celebration of Vayikra Rabbah and its persistent fascination for me, the article seeks to show how my readings of the midrash have changed over the years not so much in terms of content as in the problems and dimensions that have concerned and engaged me. You become what you study. This essay seeks to show that you also study what you would like to become.
