In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Brief Notes
The Visigoths in Gaul and Iberia (Update). A Supplemental Bibliography 2004–2006 Alberto Ferreiro The Medieval and Early Modern Iberian World 35. Leiden: Brill Academic Publishers, 2008. Pp. xxv + 303, ISBN: 978–90–04–16944–9.

The present volume is the third in Ferreiro’s ongoing project of providing a comprehensive and up-to-date bibliographical survey of work on Iberian Late Antiquity. Although it is somewhat surprising that print bibliography remains a viable business proposition in the age of the internet, the relative permanence of print gives Ferreiro’s bibliographies an advantage over web archives. It also gives one greater incentive to browse curiously, rather than using a search engine to go straight where one needs to go. The present volume registers 2,002 entries in Ferreiro’s usual categories: Reference Works, General Studies, the “Germanic” and Muslim Invasions, Social-Political-Economic History, Civil Law, Literary Culture, Ecclesiastical culture, Liturgy, Patristics, Isidore and Pseudo-Isidore, Archaeology, Sueves, Toulouse, Other Peoples, and finally Congresses-Symposia-Colloquia. As always, there are subject and author indexes. The $190 price is bruising, also as always, but research libraries and specialists in the field will want this book. [End Page 180]
