The March 2007 Columbia University conference, “Objects and Memory: Engendering Private and Public Archives,” from which the section on “Object Lessons” in the WSQ: Witness issue (36: 1 & 2 [Spring/Summer 2008]) was drawn, was organized by the Columbia Cultural Memory Colloquium: Sarah Cole, Marianne Hirsch, Jennifer James, Joanna Scutts, Kate Stanley, and Sonali Thakkar.
