The Editors of MFS are proud to announce the winner of the eighth Margaret Church MFS Memorial Prize. Kofi Owusu's "The Politics of Interpretation: The Novels of Ghinua Achebe," which appeared in the Autumn issue (Vol. 38, Number 3, 459-470), was judged the best article to appear in 1991. Professor Owusu received $250 and a copy of the certificate appearing opposite.

The outside panel of judges making the selection was composed of James Cowan (chair), Professor of English, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; Clayton Koelb, Professor of German and Comparative Literature, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and Annis Pratt, Professor of English (retired), University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The Editors of MFS congratulate Professor Owusu, who is Assistant Professor of English at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. We are also grateful to the selection committee for the many hours they devoted to selecting this year's winner.

The Margaret Church MFS Memorial Prize was established in 1984 in memory of Dr. Church, Professor of English and of Comparative Literature at Purdue University and long-time co-editor of this journal.
