Editorial Statement

The Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal is a nonsectarian, interdisciplinary quarterly journal for the members of the Joseph and Rose Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University. It publishes opinion and analysis dealing with social, ethical, and public policy aspects of bioethics and related areas of applied ethics. It presents varied points of view and encourages open debate on critical issues.

The Joseph and Rose Kennedy Institute of Ethics was founded in 1971 as a research and teaching center of Georgetown University to offer moral perspective on the major policy issues of our time. Institute faculty members represent a wide variety of academic disciplines, including philosophy, religion, medicine, social science, and law.

Membership in the Institute is open to all professional and lay persons interested in applied and professional ethics. In addition to the Journal, members receive: the quarterly bibliographical publication, New Titles; an invitation to participate in the Institute's annual meeting; and announcements of special book and course offerings. Annual membership is $45 for individuals, $65 for institutions and libraries, and $20 for students.
