Isabella Furth is a doctoral student at the University of California, Irvine. Her dissertation addresses migration in nineteenth-century American literature.
Wendy Graham's article "Henry James's Thwarted Love" will appear in the Fall 1994 issue of Genders. She is currently completing a book about decadence, degeneracy and deviance in James. Professor Graham teaches in the English department at Vassar College.
Peter Hitchcock is currently Associate Professor of English at Baruch College, CUNY. He has written on working-class fiction and his Dialogics of the Oppressed was published last year. He is now working on representations of labor in late capitalism and on a book-length manuscript about Agnes Smedley.
Beth A. McCoy currently teaches African American literature at Washington College in Chesterton, Maryland. She is completing a dissertation at The University of Delaware on the works of Jessie Redmon Fauset, Carl Van Vechten, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Nella Larsen.
Louis Mendoza has written on ethos and ethnicity in the electronic classroom and is currently working on generational constructs, national identity and cultural discourse in twentieth-century Chicana/o literature. He is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Houston-Downtown.
Judie Newman teaches at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. She has published books on Saul Bellow (1984), John Updike (1988), and Nadine Gordimer (1988) and has edited Harriet Beecher Stowe's Dred: A Tale of the Great Dismal Swamp. Her Postcolonial Fiction will be published in 1995.
