In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Peter Allen, Editor

At the 2005 biannual Symposium of the Modern Greek Studies Association there was a session on library resources in modern Greek studies. My predecessor, Stratos Constantinidis, solicited expanded versions of papers presented in this session for a special issue of the journal. In the end there were not enough papers for an entire issue, but Professor Constantinidis accepted and edited the five papers published in this issue. These give us a good idea of the holdings of some of the major collections of materials on modern Greek studies, both in the United States and Greece. The other four articles in this issue are a good mix of humanities and social sciences and cover a broad range of subjects.

I would also like to announce the appointment of a new Associate Editor for Social Sciences, Dr. Laurie Kain Hart of Haverford College, who will replace David Sutton whose term has expired. There are also several new members of the Editorial Board: Kevin Featherstone, Stathis Gourgouris, Brian Joseph, Vassilis Lambropoulos, Artemis Leontis, Antonis Liakos, and Neni Panourgiá. They replace Loring Danforth, Michael Herzfeld, Paschalis Kitromilides, Alexander Nehemas, and Dimitris Tziovas whose terms have expired. Professor Sutton and the outgoing members of the board participated fully in the preparation of this issue despite the fact that their names are gone from the masthead. I welcome Professor Hart and all the new Board members and extend my warmest thanks to those leaving the Board who have served so well. [End Page v]
