Abstract

This essay examines the surface culture of the novel Historias del Kronen (1994) by José Ángel Mañas through the artwork of Andy Warhol. Warhol’s artistic philosophy, in particular the relationship he establishes between technology and emotion, crystallizes the novel’s televisual framework of temporary subjects and conversations, interchangeable locations and events, an absence of character development, a spatial and temporal framework emptied of meaning, and superficial schematized repetitions.
