Abstract

This essay provides an outline of Origen's Bible study program. We start with a phenomenological analysis of the communication of the Logos to humanity as divine good news, detaching its basic structure and the general course of its unfolding. Subsequently we narrow down the investigation to the biblical form of this communication. We argue that Origen takes the biblical communication of the Logos as the structuring scenario for his transformative pedagogy and we elaborate on the correlation between the biblical-exegetic and the pedagogic aspects of Origen's work.
