Announcements Call for Papers. The North American Division of the Schopenhauer Society announces a call for papers for its ninth annual meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the meetings of the Central Division of the American Philosophical Association in April 1993- Papers may be on any aspect of Schopenhauer 's philosophy or related themes, and should have a reading time of ~o3 ~ minutes (1o-a 5 pages). The Hume Society is pleased to announce a call for papers for its Twentieth Hume Conference to be held at the University of Ottawa from July 6-1o, 1993. The Society will meet jointly with the Eighteenth-Century Scottish Studies Society (ECSSS) and the main theme of the conference will be "Hume and His Scottish Setting." However, papers on all aspects of Hume's writings will be considered, and submissions on the following additional themes are also particularly encouraged: Hume and His Critics; Hume and the Practice of History in the Enlightenment; Hume's Critique of Religion. Papers should be no more than thirty minutes reading length with selfreferences deleted for blind refereeing and accompanied by loo-word abstracts . The deadline for submission is October 15, 199~. Professor and the late Mrs. Colin Turhayne established an annual Berkeley Essay Prize competition in conjunction with the Philosophy Department at the University of Rochester. The next deadline for submitting papers is November a, 199~. Submissions on any aspect of Berkeley's philosophy are welcome. Essays should be new and unpublished and should be written in English and not exceed 5,ooo words in length. Submissions will be judged by members of a review board selected by the Department of Philosophy at the University of Rochester. The winner will be announced March 1, 1993 and will receive a prize of $1,ooo.
