Editor's Note

This In Focus section on Visual Culture, Scholarship, and Sexual Images proved challenging for Cinema Journal and for its publisher, the University of Texas Press. Much as we wanted to run the images chosen by the respective authors, we could not in a timely fashion find a printer willing to print them. The CD option —that we might put the images on a CD (located at the back of this issue)—proved for all concerned a decent enough compromise. But it s hard to miss the irony here: a special section on the difficulty of illustrating essays on sexual representation that itself proved to be difficult to illustrate.
