Editor's Note

John N. Duvall

Because of unforeseen demands on Siobhan Somerville's time arising from her leaving Purdue, we have delayed her special issue, "Queer Fictions of Race," until December (48.4). On behalf of everyone on the MFS staff and Purdue Advisory Board, I'd like to thank Siobhan for her exemplary year of service to the journal as associate editor. It has been a pleasure working with Siobhan, and we wish her the best of luck in her new position at the University of Illinois. Siobhan will remain on our masthead as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board.

Beginning with our next issue, Nancy J. Peterson will be rejoining MFS as associate editor. Nancy previously served as the assistant editor (1994-1998) and has guest edited both the double issue on Toni Morrison (39.3-4, 1993) and the issue "Native American Literature" (45.1, 1999); the Morrison issue in revised form was published as Toni Morrison: Critical and Theoretical Approaches (Johns Hopkins 1997). Author of Against Amnesia: Contemporary Women Writers and the Crises of Historical Memory (Penn 2001), Nancy brings a broad understanding of issues of contemporary American culture and fiction to her editorial work.
