The Lion and the Unicorn 31.1 (2007) v-vi

Editors' Introduction
Sandra Beckett
George Bodmer
Lissa Paul

This has been a year of transition at The Lion and the Unicorn as we have changed editors; we are striving to regularize the schedule and the moving of submissions. We have had to rely upon your patience as we plan the issues ahead.

We're pleased to announce that Sandra Beckett, professor in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Brock University will be joining our editorial team. As one of the world's pre-eminent scholars of comparative children's literature and contemporary French literature, her ground-breaking work on crossover literature has been enormously influential in the field. Her publications include Recycling Red Riding Hood (Routledge, 2002), Transcending Boundaries: Writing for a Dual Audience of Children and Adults (edited for Garland, 1999), and Beyond Babar: The European Tradition in Children's Literature, edited with Maria Nikolajeva (Scarecrow, 2006).

We would also like to acknowledge the great work of Jan Susina of Illinois State University who served as co-editor and book review co-editor of this journal. His hard work, creative influence, encyclopedic knowledge of the field, generosity to fellow scholars have gone a long way in making the journal what it is in this century. We thank him and wish him well in his career.

The upcoming issues include the following:

April 2007 First World War and Popular Culture
April 2008 South African Children's Literature
April 2009 Children's Literature and Social Justice
