Editor's Note

Dear Readers, Authors, Consultants, and Contributors to Legacy:

I assume the position of editor of Legacy with a deep sense of respect and gratitude for the journal's pathbreaking history and continuing importance as the premier journal on American women writers. It will be an honor and a challenge to continue the standards of excellence established by Martha Ackmann, Karen Dandurand, and Joanne Dobson, the journal's original founders, and to match the dedication and energy of Sharon Harris and Martha Cutter, who have since served as the journal's editors. All of us in the community of scholars who share their interests and commitments thank them sincerely for their dedication and example.

With Dawn Keetley and Jennifer Tuttle as co-editors, Legacy will continue in the same spirit of collaborative editorship with which it was established. We three look forward to continuing our association with the scholars who currently serve as consultants and editorial board members, as well as with the writers and readers of the journal. We solicit your continued support, inviting you to be in touch with us about how you would like to see the journal grow and soliciting your scholarly contributions to future issues of Legacy.
