The bibliography comprises the 24 volumes of Bion's works, which are referred to as WRB 1–WRB 24. This is followed by a chronological list of his papers, articles, and reviews showing date and source of original appearance and bearing a "WRB" number where it is part of the contents of one of the volumes. After the chronological list, there is an alphabetical list treated in the same way. In both cases, those items not showing a "WRB" number do not appear in those volumes.

The list of secondary sources is collated in alphabetical order of author.

Finally, there is a list of journal abbreviations used.

The compiler would like to stress that this reading list is by no means comprehensive and that the entries have been selected purely on the basis that they deal wholly, or in part, with Bion and his work. It is hoped that it will prove a useful tool to students of one of Freud's most important followers.
