Medical Humanities Meeting

The Department of Medical Humanities at East Carolina University School of Medicine will celebrate its twentieth anniversary by holding a medical humanities conference in conjunction with the spring meeting of the Society for Health and Human Values, 13–14 March 1998, in Greenville, NC. The organizers invite submissions of abstracts for 20 minute presentations on any topic in the medical humanities. One-page abstracts should be sent by 1 October 1997 to Program Committee, Department of Medical Humanities, East Carolina University School of Medicine, Brody 2S-17, Greenville, NC 27858. The conference will include presentations on two special areas of scholarship: Decisions at the End of Life and David Hume and Bioethics.

Master’s Degree Program in Bioethics

The Center for Biomedical Ethics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine invites applications for its Master of Arts program in Bioethics, an interdisciplinary program with a significant clinical component. In cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine of the Philips University Marburg, the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Health Care will convene a conference on Philosophy in and Philosophy of Health Care Education, 20–22 August 1998, in Marburg, Germany.
