In Memoriam:
John Luchok

The editors and staff of Victorian Poetry, past and present, note the passing of John Luchok (1921-2004), former WVU Editor and Director of Publications until his retirement in 1995. John deserves much of the credit for the success of our journal. It was his journal too. John introduced the founding editors to the techniques of editing and printing. He helped us develop the format of the journal that made it, from those early days of linotype printing to the computerized production of today, an aesthetically attractive artifact. John was on the University Committee for Research and Publication that approved the foundation of the Journal in 1960. He served through the years as an ex-officio member of the University's Administrative Board of Victorian Poetry. For many years he copyread every quarterly issue. It was John who taught us to make the Journal a model of editorial excellence.
