Scriptorium Press is an independent publisher founded in 1996 by Bonnie Wheeler and incorporated as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Service as described in section 501(c)(3).

Established to provide an outlet for original scholarship that pushes the boundaries of mainstream academic thought and methodology, Scriptorium Press is devoted to exploring innovative research in the humanities, especially in medieval studies.

The mission of Scriptorium Press is to solicit and produce books, periodicals, and other works in print, electronic, and other media for readers who are not adequately served by university or mass commercial presses, so that the public is provided access to information and ideas outside dominant cultural discourses
