OpenURL-Enabled Links to JSTOR

Project MUSE provides links to articles from some of its journal back issues through JSTOR. See Links to Back Issues for a list of journal titles included and more information about this project.

As an option, libraries can set up links to their OpenURL-compliant linking server in place of direct links to JSTOR articles. Use the online form to enable OpenURL links to JSTOR articles.

Below is an explanation of how users can include JSTOR articles in their searches, and a description of how the search interface displays for libraries who opt to set up OpenURL links.

Including JSTOR Articles in Search

To include JSTOR articles in their searches, users select an option from the Advanced Article Search page.

JSTOR option select box

Search result citations for JSTOR articles include a "Full-Text in JSTOR" link which opens a new window with explanatory information and a direct link to the full-text article.

OpenURL Links

For libraries who opt to set up OpenURL links in place of the direct links to JSTOR, the result citation will display a generic "Link to Article" instead of the "Full-Text in JSTOR" link. (See image below.)

Link to Article in result citation

The explanatory page for JSTOR citations will link to the library's link server, rather than directly to the full text in JSTOR. Libraries can have their personal link server icon display on the explanatory page or use the standard "Article Options" button provided by MUSE (see image below).
